How to Beat Radagon & Elden Beast
A practical final-boss plan for Radagon of the Golden Order and Elden Beast: holy resistance, flask management across both fights, punish windows, and what to do if you keep dying mid-transition.
This is a back-to-back fight. You must clear Radagon with enough flasks and composure left to survive Elden Beast’s long arena chases. Treat it as two bosses with one shared inventory—not as a single health bar. If you just finished Godfrey / Hoarah Loux, rest, upgrade if needed, and review holy resist before entering the Erdtree fog.
Where This Fight Happens
After the Ashen Capital route and Godfrey, you face Radagon inside the Erdtree, then Elden Beast in the same attempt. Use the wider progression hub if you are unsure you have completed Farum Azula and the required story beats. Optional challenges like Malenia can be done before or after—this page assumes you are ready for the ending sequence.
Recommended Level & Gear
- Suggested level band: roughly 120–150+ depending on weapon upgrade and experience
- Weapon at late / max smithing or Somber path for your main armament
- Vigor near soft caps used in late game (often around 50–60) so holy chips do not end runs
- Holy resistance: armor swaps, Holyproof Dried Liver, or talismans that cut holy damage
- A mid-range or gap-closing tool for Elden Beast’s swim-away patterns
Preparation Checklist
- Max or near-max flasks—Elden Beast is long even when you know the moves
- Bring a strong spirit ash; Mimic Tear helps hold Radagon aggro so you save flasks
- Prefer physical / fire / lightning damage over pure holy if your build allows
- Practice Radagon alone until you can leave phase one with half flasks or better

Radagon Strategy
- Stay mid-range and learn which hammer strings end with a punishable recovery—do not mash through every golden slam.
- Watch for delayed holy explosions and ground seals; leave glowing floors early instead of rolling late.
- When he teleports, stop sprinting blindly; reacquire him, then re-engage with one or two hits.
- Use your spirit ash early to create free windows, but do not stand idle while they die—keep chipping.
- Enter Elden Beast with a plan: if you are below ~40% flasks, play safer on Radagon next attempt rather than forcing DPS.
Elden Beast Strategy
- Close distance when the Beast swims away—wasted running time is the main reason flasks run out.
- Stay near the body or head hitboxes you can actually reach; attacking empty water wastes stamina.
- Respect wave / holy breath patterns: sprint sideways, then return for a short punish.
- When stars or homing projectiles appear, prioritize dodge routes over damage for a few seconds.
- If a summon dies early, switch to bait-and-punish and accept a longer fight rather than panic trading.
Common Mistakes
- Dumping every flask on Radagon and arriving empty to Elden Beast
- Using a holy-heavy weapon path into high holy resistance without a backup damage type
- Chasing the Beast in a straight line through every projectile
- Ignoring resistance buffs because “damage felt fine on Godfrey”
Builds That Work Well
Strength jump attacks punish Radagon’s recoveries. Bleed can still help if your weapon applies it reliably on reachable hitboxes. Faith setups should lean on non-holy skills or buffs when the Beast resists. Pair damage with HP and holy resist slots from the talismans guide.
After the Fight
Clearing Elden Beast leads into ending selection based on your quest flags. If you planned an alternate ending, confirm NPC quests before the final fog on a future NG+ or another save.
