How to Beat Morgott, the Omen King
Leyndell's capital gatekeeper. Morgott mixes Margit-style cane pressure with holy swords, knives, and late cursed blades — learn the dodge timing, then punish the landings.
Recommended Level
- Suggested level: 80–100
- Weapon upgrade: +15 to +20 regular / +6 to +8 somber
- Reach Leyndell via Altus Plateau first
- Vigor toward 40+ before repeated attempts
Summons & Prep
- Bring a strong spirit ash — Morgott's arena allows summons.
- Equip a Great Rune + Rune Arc for the fog-gate try.
- Holy damage reduction helps; physical / bleed / strength kits all work.
- If you fought Margit, reuse those spacing habits — openings are similar but faster.
In-Article Ad Slot
Phase 1 Strategy
- Stay mid-range; bait cane / dagger strings, then dodge into his side for 1–2 hits.
- Watch holy sword plunges and delayed knife throws — do not punish until the projectile finishes.
- When he leaps, dodge the landing, not the jump start.
- Let your ash hold aggro when you need a full heal; greed gets clipped by follow-ups.
Phase 2 / Low HP Aggression
At lower health Morgott adds more cursed blade / blood-tinged pressure and longer chains. Reset to patience: one punish window per combo, then back out. Holy AoEs punish standing in place after a heal.
- Dodge toward him on many overhead swings to land behind the blade.
- Keep stamina for the second hit of two-hit strings.
- If you panic-roll, stop — walk out of delayed explosions when possible.
Recommended Builds
Strength jump attacks stagger well. Bleed and faith kits also clear the fight if your weapon is upgraded. Refresh talismans for stamina and defense.

What Next?
Beating Morgott opens deeper capital / late-game routes. Continue the progression hub, farm levels via rune farming, then prep for optional Malenia or Shadow of the Erdtree.
